Ciao,
Complex 6.8 out this week end on Saturday. It will be downloadable only for members of this forum. Features: -planets on map background; -new map called Topleca (large scale, 90000); -enhanched game camera view (more far, 9000 -> 15000); -gameplay balancing; -AI balancing, expecially for the honour progression; -other few issues on bugs and tuning. After this release (I think the last of the 6 series) we will start the development of Complex 7. |

You need Bigar, a command line tool to pack or unpack .big archives. I don't have a link in mind but you can do a search on the relic forum. Once you have all the files and folders in your data folder, instead of -mod Complex6X.big, you use the override command use the unpacked version. |

There are some naysayers, but I think the planet(iods) are a viable gameplay option if used properly. Of course, knowing what would be how to best do that is the trick, no? I mean really, just how much does the Complex have in common with the original HW2 as far as gameplay goes? Not on the forums they can't.
MasterTopForums will only allow specific file types to be uploaded. (for archives they are [ace gtar gz rar tar zip], and images can be [gif jpeg jpg png tga tif]) (There is a simple way around this, by appending the extension ".zip" to it, but that's not advisable for a number of reasons; the most prominent being that many people's computers are set up to hide the extensions of known file types, so they couldn't change them back.) |

The installer is simply meant to help those who aren't familiar with installing mods by hand. It creates the necessary desktop shortcut and installs the *.big file to the HW2 installation directory without the user having to find it by hand. |

And how should someone without an forum account know that? There is only the "paid" link to paypal, and no word about free and other places for download. So this just looks like trying to make the ppl who wants do download it pay for it. |

Beghins, If you want the people to pay for your server then please ask them to do so and don't force them. Many of them didn't use the original download link since the speed is for an unknown reason very slow if you don't have an accelerator. Maybe ask for donations on your main page if you have money problems. Give the people who don't know complex or are at least not a forum member a clear explanation. Maybe you can give a link to the complex page on moddb.

Well, this is disappointing. I came home today, after learning of this mod, hoping to quickly download and test it. Instead the download link goes to a Italian Paypal page (WTF?) with instructions to click a button that doesn't exist.
Then, I move to the forums. Find a link, thankfully, to this thread. Can't read it - need to register. Again - why? Login window doesn't show a "register" link, only lost password. Nice. I understand you want recognition for your work, and I'm pretty sure it's a very extensive mod and you deserve payment for your hours. If I like this mod, I would donate. But because I was made to jump through so many hoops, it's less likely for me. Please simply create a normal link on your page. If I were to show this to my friends, all would click it away, telling me they don't (want to) understand what's going on, and who can blame them? I'm just a persistent S.O.B. who wants to share my tale of getting the mod ;) |

This is not a moan (honest) just an observation.
I was happy to make a donation to the project because I've clocked many hours playing this great mod. The donation also gives me the advantage to download new releases from the Complex server before they are made available via other links. As per the homeworld2complex.com site "at this way you have a fast and secure link" I don't get speeds over 150 KB/sec. I don't think you/one can claim this to be "fast" It takes over 2 hours to download a new release from the Complex server, and my first attempt to download 8.4.3 crashed with 20 minutes to go. If that's the speeds that are available, then fair enough. But i don't think you should call it fast, it's not. Edited for typos. |

Many additions to the game, new units, new features and better graphical aspect, but the more important improvements have been done on stability, gameplay and performance. Every duplicate ship/subsystem have been removed, redundant functions cleaned, lagging scripts revisited, a lot of bugs fixed. The game has been balanced to reach the better space battle experience. I hope you enjoy all this work! |

It's not abandoned, They are waiting for the HW remastered that gear box is making. They want to see if the new engine will be any good for mods. If it is they will continue the mod on the new release, according to the Complex website. I have faith in GearBox to do the remastered version right. The head of the Company spearheaded the acquisition of The Homeworld title and I paraphrase "I want it to be as close to the original game that we all loved". There may also be a Collectors edition with a number of possible goodies. So look forward to that.

Well complex 9.1 is not compatible with homeworld remastered. You can play it only on homeworld2 classics. However the classic version is also remastered and is released as patch 1.0.
So complex will be also buggy and crashy on homeworld 2 classic because it require patch 1.1 It is kinda confusing i recommend you to simple wait until remastered version of new complex is released. |
