Hw2.log file is the first file to check in the event of a crash.
For scripting errors, this file will give the line number the error occurred at, some idea of the nature of the error and the function name (typically, the function's name is the script file name.)

The filename pattern is: <month>-<day>-<year>_<Hour>_<Min>_
_ErrorLog.txt
This is the second file to check, if the Hw2.log file is unhelpful. It is useful in tracking down mesh and texture problems in HOD files; though understanding what it is trying to tell you can be aggravating at times.

The *.dmp files are memory dumps (as in a text file containing the most recent portion of memory of what Homeworld 2 was storing into memory at the time); and is only really a sort of last resort if one can't find anything useful in the ErrorLog.txt or Hw2.log files.

When I finish getting my localization scripts to work properly (they are getting fairly close to complete; so some time this week, most likely.)

darkminder, you don't have to attach a file. You could just post the information FROM the Hw2.log file in a spoiler tag. Please do this from now on, I hope everyone else will agree with me.

I apparently need to either release a hotfix for this, or start a dedicated thread about this error.

In any case:
@darkminder:
In the Player vs. CPU option menu:
  1. Switch to a map for 6 players.
  2. Switch all "Closed" player slots to either "Easy" or some other option other than "Closed".
  3. If any of the players' "Race" selection is blank (as in, you can see the black background) select a valid race for that player.
  4. Switch the player slot to "Closed".
  5. Switch to the map you were wanting to play on.
  6. Adjust any match options you want to.
  7. Start the game.
