Hi y'all kiithid,
I'll keep it brief. Homeworld is famous for its amazing backgrounds (call them skyboxes if you like). Yet Complex has very bland background images - usually plain black, some very uninspiring clouds and a handful of stars.
Why is that?
Can we have proper HW backgrounds instead?
For those interested, here's someone writing very interesting stuff about HW background art.
That's all. Thanks for reading.
In the spoiler below you'll find an image illustrating what I'd like to see while playing Complex.

Fair enough, but why not take the default homeworld ones? Is it impossible to take them from campaign or multiplayer missions?
I'm not disparaging your choice of backgrounds, by the way, but in my view they don't really suit the game. |

the reason is that I don't like them, except few ones, indeed they're already into some maps, others imo does't fit my idea of a space game, but they recall me a cartoon game, everyone has own ideas _________________ www.homeworld2complex.com

Yah, I just found one on Lonely Islands.
Well, I agree that they don't really fit a dry space strategy game - but given the mythical undertones of HW, it kinda comes together nicely.
But you're the boss! |

I always prefered levels without backgrounds, more space-like, imo. _________________ I'll have a Neutron Blaster please...

I agree to some point that the interest of backgrounds should be more practical to the pertaining regards in terms of "General" backgrounds of Homeworld 2 versus say a background to have in a game.
I would say though the idea of a background just in a game though probably does help support say the more universal worth of performance gained and/or maintained when working with mods.
Yes, if the idea of previous backgrounds are in lack, then a question to what point for seems more reasonable. But if the question is rather they are just being made in general for any backgrounds added otherwise, to me the question still is how much should be say invested on a "developed background" image?
There think least two to me can be somewhat performance hitting when using/or playing with in terms of least Complex 9.
And despite that still said, also think the question of rather any Animated type Backgrounds will be of interest in the future or now to any point?
Having maybe some choice of backgrounds to use to play any map despite say what background a map has would be interesting.
Thanks,
M.V.K. |
