The guidance system used in many games, including HW2, is abysmally pathetic. Missiles, despite of having superior speed, usually fly past their targets by several inches before turning back and miss again. If this guidance system is implemented in real life, AA missiles would be very ineffective because just a simple manoeuvring trick is enough to dodge them, and the limited fuel won't give these missiles a second chance to re-engage their targets.

Therefore, today, I introduce to you a revolutionized guidance system, replacing the old and ineffective Tail-chased guidance. Credited to my equally loved mod, WIC Modern Warfare, I present you Lead-Pursuit Guidances for Missiles.

The article here (http://www.moddb.com/mods/wicmw/features/flint-lead-pursuit-guidance-principles) briefly explains main mechanics behind the system, which is more than sufficient to explain my points.

A tl;dr version: lead-pursuit guidance system lead the missile on the collision course to the target, instead of chasing its tail. Just like when you are playing FPS, you don't chase your enemies, you lead the gun to where you think he would be.

Implementing such a system will have following benefits:
- Potentially reduce burden on hardware as the missiles now fly more efficiently, reach their targets faster, and disappear sooner rather than flying awkwardly around like before.
- More realistic missiles flight
- Missiles are much more potent and effective because it spends less time flying and more time killing.

However, there are some potential drawbacks:
- More coding, obviously
- I'm not the originator of this idea, so if you guys want to integrate it into Complex, I encourage you guys to consult with Modern Warfare team (their main page here: http://www.moddb.com/mods/wicmw). Afterall, they have spent years studying the principles and mechanics of Lead-Pursuit Principles.
- 9.1 is a final release on HW2, so perhaps I have to wait until HW Remastered to see my dream realized.

P/s: a more in-depth presentation, as well as several cool ideas (i.e. shared targets database - hooray, no more 2 nuclear missiles chased 1 petty frigates)

Thank you for listening.

All works used here are from WIC Modern Warfare team and their fantastic mod.
